This portrait was inspired by two little boys who ran into my studio one day after they saw me painting a commission of another athlete through the window.
They were big sports fans and they were so excited so they told me I just ‘had to paint Messi … and Zlatan’ - you can check him out here.
I made the underpainting using acrylic and alcohol inks, spray paint, and thicker layers of acrylic to create interesting visual texture.
I then painted the portrait with oil paint to give depth and a timeless glow to the portrait of the Argentinian football player Lionel Messi.
