'Chief Mary'

SEK 9,000.00

Mixed-Media-Oil on Custom Canvas. Size: 98×65×3cm.

Some women walk into a room, and you just know they're in charge. Chief Mary, a contemporary portrait, embodies that presence. Dressed in a blue suit jacket, she carries the quiet confidence of a leader, a woman who has seen some things in her time.

Background:

The word ‘mary’ means ‘woman’ in Ngäbe-Bugle, the indigenous dialect native to Carenero Island in Bocal del Toro, Panama, where I lived for four years, so the portait represents the chief woman, and most mothers as chiefs of the family.

It is one of eleven paintings in the Motherfunk collection that was created just before my son turned two and is a tribute to the strength, perseverance and the beautiful and wonderful everyday chaos of motherhood. The collection explores the idea that mothers are everyday superheroes, filled with life experience and stories.

Materials:

The frame is handmade and covered with Caravaggio cotton canvas, a professional quality material made in Italy.

The painting is varnished with a satin varnish that is not too glossy and provides long-lasting protection against dust and fading, ensuring many years of durability and visual enjoyment. It is available at House of Mica Art Studio in Malmö.

Pickup is available at House of Mica Art Studio in Malmö, Sweden.

International shipping is available (approx. $100 for packaging and shipping).
