Background:
We’re all made of many selves, the wild one who runs barefoot through the jungle and the grounded one who nurtures and protects. Wild Roots celebrates that beautiful duality: mother and dreamer; rebel and caretaker - you don’t have to pick just one.
Process:
The underpainting was created using crackle paste symbolising the past, and the different fragments of our identity. It’s followed by a series of oil paint washes to make an abstract background. The figures are painted with expressive brush strokes in oil paint.
