Mixed-Media-Oil on Custom Canvas. Size: 98 x 80 × 3 cm
Emilia is a striking portrait of a woman with untamed, wild hair. Set against a vibrant backdrop of pinks, yellows, and emerald green, this painting radiates energy and raw femininity.
Background:
It is one of eleven paintings in the Motherfunk collection, created just before my son turned two, which explores the idea that mothers are everyday superheroes, filled with life experiences and stories. It is a celebration of the strength, perseverance and beautiful and wonderful everyday chaos of motherhood.
Process:
The first layer of acrylics creates a visual texture of "chaos" from which the woman emerges, painted in bold strokes of purple with teal and dark yellow details. It is finished with oil paint to give depth, richness of colour, and a timeless expression.
Materials:
The thick wooden frame is hand-built and mounted by a quality Italian Caravaggio canvas.
