2026 is of course the year of the fire horse and it’s also my sign in the Chinese horoscope, so I felt I had to paint it. I tend to associate horses to freedom in my paintings, and this one is no different, he’s free and fiery and passionate!
I made the structured underpainting using plaster mixed with big sea salt flakes. I then made marks with acrylic paint, drew the horse with charcoal, and then painted it all with oil paint.
